When you look like someone out of a horror movie (Poltergeist 2?) it's bound to creep out friends and enemies alike. I'm not sure that would actually serve as a meaningful deterrent, but one can hope.

The argument could be made that some members of congress essentially are terrorists, so maybe the TSA is actually fulfilling it's intended mission when it catches Madison Cawthorn with a gun.

I'm not sure how the group members could miss the fact that their leader was only 13. It's not like he was hiding in a corner where no one would notice him, he was their leader so they would have been hanging off his every word. How can a 13 year old pretend to be an adult that convincingly? Were they relying on him for the bomb-making expertise? Did it amount to putting dry ice in a water bottle? They may have been planning to plant bombs but I have serious doubts about their competence as real threats to society if they can't tell that their own leader is a child.

The comparison to Florida man is both apt (because it sounds so ridiculous) but also a little unfair because the choice of weapon apparently worked, and as the saying goes if it sounds stupid but it works then it's not stupid.

Literally, if the government had simply watched with their eyes instead of their interrogation techniques, no one would have had any idea they were on a list much less sued about it and gotten it declared unconstitutional.
