When it comes to copying what you find online, I always advise people to learn from the code rather than simply copying it. Copying may be expedient, but it's risky too. If you don't understand the code you're copying then you run the risk of using it in inappropriate ways, including using compromised encryption keys like the folks at Hyundai appear to have done.

You've got to figure that when Facebook tries to defend users against spying by cops it isn't for the benefit of the users. They spy on those same users, so it's no principled endeavor. In all likelihood they're just trying to stop less capable spies from scaring the users away from the platform.

Maybe you're enthusiastic about the idea that we'll soon be able to get rid of passwords. Maybe you even point out that "No one's going to guess your thumbprint".

If so, I'm going to have to rain on your parade and remind you that your prints can be extracted from normal photos, and multiple criminals have already been identified and arrested based on this technique.
