Presumably one of those doors is an actual entrance and the rest are just decoys, but you'll have to figure out which is which before you can try breaking in.

I can't imagine that SPAM would need to be locked up like this (anyone desperate enough to steal SPAM should just be given it), but I could definitely get behind the idea of doing this to the online variety. We'll say "it's for security".

Normally I think we would all question whether this was a reasonable use of a security measure. Such devices are usually reserved for items that have a high value, but value can be subjective, and candy bars may be much more valuable to someone with a compulsion to eat chocolate. So if that's a real threat model in this store then the security measure makes sense.

If Kia and Hyundai can put an end to the Kia Challenge with a software update, the question I have is why didn't they do it sooner? You know, before people died.

It kinda reminds me of an electric fence. I'm sure it wouldn't be practical to try and electrify just the wire when it's in contact with the undercarriage of the car, which is also metal and therefore conductive. Maybe instead of a constant current there could be a trigger system that fires when you try to tamper with it and then gives a shock like a cattle prod.

It's not a limited time offer, and you don't have to worry about supplies lasting, but if you want them then there's no point in waiting.

Camouflage doesn't always have to mean that splotchy green and tan pattern, it can be anything if it blends in well, and this watch background definitely does that. It could also serve as a means to verify the owner should the watch ever get lost. I don't think most people are quite that hairy.

You may not agree but it's hard to argue with results. This bike would have been stolen if not for the actions of that neighbour.

There's a couple of ways I can think of to have fun with these. Generally the ideal is to try and trigger false alarms. Mischief shouldn't be at someone else's expense, though, so tread lightly.

I think we all know that something about this cake is not right. If you found this in the break room fridge, would you steal a slice anyway? I would not. At least, I wouldn't steal the first piece - I'd let someone else test it for me before I chowed down on delicious cake.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the older generation knows how to drive stick.

Sometimes whether a thing is an attack or a defense depends entirely on perspective. The motorcyclist could be trying to prevent his motorcycle from getting stolen, but the car owner can't go anywhere now because the motorcycle is anchoring him in place. You could make a lot of arguments about the motorcyclist knowing better, but this site has seen cars chained up as if they were bicycles, so I don't doubt this could have been a sincere attempt to prevent theft (even if it is ridiculous).

Privacy is, unfortunately, something that can be pretty easily violated simply by disregarding social norms. In this case, however, there are all kinds of possible solutions (a taller fence, a paintball, a high powered laser pointer, a well aimed/focused solar cooker, etc.)

While that might stop me, I suspect that not only are there plenty of millennials who can drive stick there are also plenty of older people who steal vehicles.

Before seeing Ms. Marvel I had no idea shoe theft was a big problem (even though I myself was once a victim of winter boot theft). Now that I've made the connection, though, as silly as this looks it might actually be a viable solution (at least for open toed footwear).

It'll take a bigger man than me to attempt such a daring robbery. At least during the daylight hours when climbing up that thing makes you into a spectacle. Maybe it'll be better under the cover of darkness.
Or maybe bike thieves will just always prefer the lower hanging fruit (the bikes already on the ground).
