Fundamentals First

from here and here

Yes, there is a novel side-channel attack that involves video recording of power LEDs, and yes I'm sure it's important to protect your smart card readers against such an attack, but I'm also fairly certain most information security departments are still struggling to deal with phishing and ransomware and aren't anywhere near being in a position where dealing with this novel (and frankly low probability) attack is the best use of their resources.

Or maybe just pull the cable leading into it

found on Reddit

Sure you COULD follow the directions on the sign, but that would risk personal injury and it would take longer which would give the attackers more time. It's easier to defend those machines if you can cut off the attack at a single point.

And the mouse is next

from here and here (image source)

Little does this attack cat know that it's already got the red dot in it's fuzzy little paws. It's right there attached to the gun.

Never underestimate your adversaries

found on I Heart Cats

You don't expect this behaviour from a cat, usually it's the other way around, however I have known a cat that terrorized the neighborhood dogs such that their owners would pick them up and carry them past the cat owner's house when walking their dogs, so I know sometimes it happens.

It looks so realistic

found on Grateful

Not that I'm condoning killing people (goodness knows there's enough death going on already), but this would be an excellent example of using cover to disguise or otherwise hide your activities.

Richard Henderson : Old MacDonald Had a Barcode, E I E I CAR

This DEFCON presentation gives me new appreciation for whoever it was that tried to put the EICAR string on the blockchain.

Attacks need to be kept up to date too

found on Izismile

I think the youth of today know better than to get into a strange van for some free candy. Funny pictures, on the other hand, might not trigger the same suspicion since it wasn't explicitly drilled into anyone's head.

Beware of attack cat

found on Evil Milk

Who says it has to be dogs that are man's best friend? With the proper motivation, a cat can do much of the same things a dog does. Including attacking uninvited guests. While you might need to issue commands to the dog, obviously the cat just needs you to paint the target with a laser.

Everyone knows you need an axe for hacking

from here and here (image source)

It's important not to let your need to do something override your aim to do an appropriate thing. Otherwise you're going to get an expensive lesson.

An escalation in the game of Cat and Mouse

I've seen cats in tanks too, but I think those have always been cardboard.

TIL how to counter a gator attack

found on Reddit

I know, I know, don't believe everything you read on the Internet, especially things on Reddit, but someone on Reddit did the leg-work and it seems there's a real news article about it.

So the question I now have is this: does it work on crocodiles as well? Anyone want to test it?

Don't bring a shuriken to a car-fight

from here and here (image source)

If someone is coming at you with their car, a tiny bit of metal thrown from your hand isn't going to do much. In a battle of car vs. ninja throwing stars, the car wins.

Taking a bite out of crime

found on Imgur

Based on the actual story it seems likely that the blood was a result of shall we say self-inflicted wounds as the burglar tried to escape through the window they broke on the way in - though I'm sure the dog named Demon helped make that escape more difficult and injury prone.

A nap attack isn't the kind of attack we had in mind

found on I Can Has Cheezburger Animials

It looks to me like the most dangerous thing this cat could do to you is yawn. Why is that dangerous, you ask? Yawns are contagious.

Come at my landline, bro

While the current attacks target the iPhone, that's just this time. Don't assume other mobile platforms haven't or won't face something similar.

Turtle vs. Cows

Watch on YouTube

That's not how I would have imagined a fight between a turtle and a herd of cows would play out. As tough as the turtle's shell may be, I bet a single cow could crack it and a whole herd could do some major damage if they decided to trample that little moving rock. But I guess they aren't any better at judging risks than we are, and with all that armour the turtle has learned that nothing is in it's threat model, not even even a beast 20x it's size.

Someone is trying to level up to supervillain

from here

While I can certainly imagine motives for launching cyberattacks against the WHO, I can't imagine having the balls to risk disrupting the work that organization is doing right now.
