Calling two scammers at the same time to talk to each other
Watch on YouTube
What's interesting to me is how the scammers drop all pretenses when they think they're the only ones on the line. If you ever wondered if they were aware they were scamming people, now you know.

As many as there are stars in the sky

Billions and billions of scam calls served by a single telecom company? I hope they have to pay an astronomical fine, but it makes me wonder what the mind-boggling total across all telecom companies is.

Tell me something only the real you would know

Well this is disturbing. You increasingly can't trust phone calls from loved ones in financial distress because scammers are mimicking their voices with AI. Imagine having to authenticate your child or grandchild on the worst day of their life.

When people finally figure out they can just use the private browsing feature of their browser instead of worrying about deleting their browser history all the time, things like this will become unnecessary. But until then...

It's more "secure"

| from here and here |
There are some scenarios where I can see fingerprint biometrics providing a lot of additional security, but phones and laptops aren't among them. It's like a combination lock with the combination written on it. They do provide convenience, and maybe that's what we should be caring about, but we shouldn't try to pretend it's for security

The typeface for this could have been anything, but the monochrome green on black binary code is a nice touch.

Why people give up on answering the phone

I don't answer the phone anymore, and this pretty much sums up why. The spam calls are more frequent than the real ones, so if anyone needs to get in touch with me they need to leave a message

I've seen cars chained to posts as though they were bikes, and I've seen cars padlocked as though they were gates, but this might be the first time I've seen cars 'protected' as though they were phones.

Scammer Payback: I Found their Scam Call Center....Let's call them
Watch on YouTube
It's interesting to learn how easily scammers can get spooked. That means it doesn't take much to disrupt their operation, at least temporarily. And because it doesn't take much, that makes it feasible to keep disrupting them.

Have fun with passwordless authentication

They've been trying to get rid of passwords for years, opting instead for things like your phone (as a token) or biometrics, or both. Unfortunately alternatives to passwords require additional hardware and just aren't as reliable as passwords.

When there are extra antennas that don't improve call quality

I'm sure the little feet touching your face will give it away in this case, but extra antennas (if you're willing to open it up and look) is a bit more generic.

Don't spend it all in one place

I'm all for making the scammers put way too much effort in for far too little reward.

That expression kind of chilling. I get the feeling the kid knew exactly what they were doing. This doesn't seem like play time gone awry. Better keep an eye on that one.
