No one is above the law

found on eBaum's World

It's not just the law. Rules exist for a reason and they're supposed to apply to everyone, but there's always someone who thinks they're too good to follow those rules and they wind up demonstrating the principle of FAFO at some point or another.

Are bird cops also bastards?

found on Klyker

Normally we think of authority as being something that's used against people, but people aren't the only threats

Where do the crooks sit?

from here and here (image source)

These chibi cop cars are too cute to take seriously. This is like the cop car version of a couple of kids standing on each others shoulders under a rain coat trying to pretend to be an adult. The problem (besides the obvious logistics problem) is that this undermines the respect that we're supposed to have for authority figures.

Someone's going to be so grounded

from here and here

Something tells me this young man won't be able to use the Internet at home for quite some time now that reporters have tipped off his mom about what he's been up to. You may not be able to charge a minor through the legal system, but minors are still subject to the authority of their parents.

Termination gives you more time to chase that Snorlax

from here and here

You're supposed to be able to rely on authorities to serve, protect, and just generally do the right thing. That's kind of their job. If they want to play video games all day, they should get a job doing that - and who knows, maybe they will now that they're not stuck in a patrol car anymore.

So much for serving and protecting

from here

It's not just that they let this one bad apple into the police, it's that if this is the the standard of care that was taken when vetting police officers, how many more bad apples are there in there?

If you say you don't trust the police, well I can't say that I'd blame you. Under the circumstances it's hard to imagine anyone trust them.

"I'm telling your mom" used to mean something

from here

When you're a parent you are your child's first experience with authority. You make the rules. You hand out the punishments. As your child gets older they may end up breaking not just your rules but society's rules and there's an expectation that you will exercise your authority in those cases as well, because the alternative is to be an accessory and then more formal authorities get involved.

Such is the case of the parents of two UK kids who stole bitcoins from people while they were still minors.

I'm sure that cuts down the protest(er)s

found on Acid Cow

When authorities known for abusing their power start riding around in vehicles surrounded by spinning blades, it's time to get the heck out of there.

Richard Feynman on Getting Arrested by Los Alamos Fence Security

Watch on YouTube

This is, generally speaking, still how authorities react when you exploit security weaknesses. They want to arrest you, and if you don't have permission to do what you're doing then they may have a point. Richard Feynman did have authorization to be on that base, however, so I'm sure his detainment wasn't too serious. This isn't the only way he trolled security personnel, mind you.

Santa isn't messing around

from here and here (screengrab source)

Elf on the shelf may have been and advancement in Santa's surveillance capabilities, but this is an advancement in his enforcement. No more coal in your stocking, it's 'cuffs from now on.
