One way to make cookies bite the biscuit

from here and here

Actually blocking cookies seems to create problems with a surprising number of sites, so using incognito mode or private browsing mode in other browsers to limit the lifetime of the cookies to as long as the browser window is open is the next best thing. In Case Of Emergency Delete My Browser History sticker

Product Page

To be honest, I think this works better as a reminder to yourself to delete your browser history regularly, rather than actually relying on the kindness of strangers (and their ability to get access to your system). Normalize deleting your own damn history, or better yet, use Incognito mode.

Find a VPN that won't judge you like that

found on Imgur

Some would say just use a VPN, but the VPN effectively takes on the role of your ISP at that point. So since all the traffic your ISP used to be able to see will now be visible to your VPN provider you need to find one that's worthy of the trust you'll be placing in them. There's no perfect privacy

found on Reddit

You can keep things private from the people you live with or maybe even the sites that you visit, but not the company that makes your browser. Just something to think about while you use a browser made by an advertising company

I've got a reputation to protect

found on Reddit

I don't know about you, but I certainly use Google in incognito-mode. Not even specifically dumb questions, but all the time. One of these days I'm probably going to have to figure out how to make every browser window an incognito window.

And that's why we use Incognito Mode

found on Acid Cow

Getting rid of all history to hide just a few things kind of stands out like a sore thumb. There's really only one reason most people clear their history and that's to hide something embarrassing. It would be a lot more discreet to selectively use a browser mode that doesn't save history in the first place. That way your normal browsing history remains intact and people won't find any clue that you've been doing something not hinted at by that history.

So much for 'incognito' mode

from here and here (source article)

I guess it's too much to ask that the world's largest advertising company actually deliver on their promise of giving us privacy.

Seems to be going dark down there

found on Memedroid

Could incognito mode thwart the Feds? Maybe. There's certainly some question about whether they're willing to go deeper rather than just scratching the surface.

Making private browsing private again

from here

It might not be perfect, but if major websites are actively trying to thwart it that suggests incognito mode must be doing something right.

Still not quite private enough

found on Reddit

No matter how much computer technology you use to keep your browsing private, playing with your privates in a public space is not private and will be seen.
