Manual Denial Of Service

from here (image source)

Apparently a news organization couldn't find hacker stock photos that were over-the-top enough for their purposes so they hired an artist to create such an image? I'm not sure why they couldn't just stage their own hacker stock photo (just need a scruffy guy and some simple props), but here we are.

Go hack yourself

found on someecards

Hacking yourself gives you experience in thinking like an attacker and can help you identify deficiencies in your defenses. Trying to guess your own password probably isn't the best way to do it, but I guess it's a start.

Does that make it easier to see him on the dark web?

from here and here

Considering what the stereotypical hacker stock photo looks like, I'm surprised images like this aren't used to depict white hat hackers.

Balaclavas are so yesterday

from here and here (image source)

Probably the iconic hacker stock photo look won't be getting an upgrade any time soon, but if it did, I hope this would be in the running because it's just the right amount of ridiculous (which is what makes the current crop of hacker stock photos so laughable).

I hacked myself today

found on Funny Junk

Forgetting your password presents you with a great opportunity to try and see what's entailed with trying to break into an account. You know pretty much everything there is to know about your target (you) so you can make educated guesses about what kind of password it might be, whether there are dictionary words involved, what kinds of numbers or symbols are likely to be used, etc.

Unfortunately, you usually only find out you've forgotten your password when you really need into the account and don't have time to mess around with all that. However, if you ever find yourself with the time, do try it and and see how well you do.

They have no idea who they're dealing with

found on Memedroid

These days people equate being anonymous with hacking (in part because of the group named anonymous) but if all it takes to make you think someone is a hacker is wearing a funny mask or changing accounts then the bar is set incredibly low.

So ... we should all wear masks?

found on The Happy Hooded Hacker

I don't know about you but when I see "How to..." followed by a picture, I generally think it's a depiction of what we're supposed to do - an example to follow. I suppose masking ourselves in a somewhat less literal sense can be useful at preventing identity theft, but I think the only thing an actual mask is going to stop is facial recognition (and you might want a mask that covers a bit more than that).

A little knowledge might make them dangerous

Do I even want to know what's going on in the bottom left corner?

On the Internet, nobody knows you're a hacker dog

I love this new hacker stock photo. I want to make my own caption for it. I'll have to hunt down the original.
