Most of the porch pirate countermeasures I've heard of are deterrents like glitter bombs or scary noises or surveillance cameras, but eventually deterrents lose their effectiveness. This isn't a deterrent, per se, it's a barrier. Porch pirates will need to figure out how to break into these in order to steal what's inside and they won't even know if there's anything inside or not to decide if it's worth their time. It significantly alters the economics of porch piracy.

Thermal energy is just another kind of information, and here we see what happens when you don't keep it private - when you don't keep it isolated/insulated from the outside world.

Not only will this not stop computer viruses, I don't think this is going to do such a good job of stopping biological viruses either, and it's not terribly safe.

It seems like with everything that's going on right now, it's an excellent time to introduce this concept, because people will have a more visceral connection with what it means to isolate things.
